30th Anniversary Evil Dead 2 Comic Book Omnibus and Art Book

Let's Talk Book Quality and Printer Specs...

Hello, Deadite Slayers - 

We hope everyone is having a great weekend. Amelia has the weekend off, so I wanted to step in and give you guys some more information on the book quality and "specs" of what you will be receiving. 

But first... 

Welcome new backers. With your help we are very close to unlocking our first stretch goal. Thank you! It looks like you guys have a handle on optional-buys, but if not feel free to ask or review Update #2. There is a nice walk-through waiting for you there. 

Okay, so book specs:

If you have ever held a large, hardbound art book in your hands, you get the idea. But some are bound better than others. We are enormous fans of the art books that Dark Horse produces and the people that produce them. Our specs are very similar to what you may have seen on their Zelda and Avatar art books. Here's a pic of a beautiful copy of Legend of Korra that I have laying around my office: 

Apologies for how cluttered my desk is, but as you can see that's a big hardbound beauty sitting next to a standard-size graphic novel. The Korra art book is about 150 pages. Your art book is 250. And the omnibus is 300. So both books together in their slipcase are about 3x thicker than the art book you see here. That's a lot of high-quality, oversized content! The cover is 12pts C2S. That's not the thickest cover on the market, but it's on the thicker side of things.

So, yeah, this thing is going to look great on your bookshelves or coffee tables. 

The slipcase is made of the same cardboard stock you would see on high-end collections, like this Lord of the Rings boxed set: 

For the interior, we are going with thick, glossy 70# paper. That's what the Korra art book has, and your books will be sewn in 32-page sections before they are bound to the cover. 

Sewing them in "signatures" before binding to the cover insures random pages won't pop out while reading and enjoying your book. We hate that, and we figured you would too. Here's a good look at what we are talking about:

Unboxing, Unveiling, and an Unnervingly Realistic Necronomicon

Thank you all so much for your support! As I’m writing this we are at 112% funded! 

We really appreciate Georgia Ball taking the time to answer some of our questions and make this video about her work on the Evil Dead 2 comic books. That video is available to view on our campaign page. Look out in the coming weeks for Kickstarter Live videos from some of our other Evil Dead 2 writers. 

We’ve been in contact with Trick or Treat Studios, our partners that supply the Kandarian Dagger and Necronomicon Ex-Mortis props, about their re-order period for 2018. With only 8 of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis tier slots remaining and the Kandarian Dagger tier slots sold out, we wanted to provide future and current backers the ability to order both props in one tier. 

This new tier will ship in a second wave as we have to wait for Trick or Treat Studios to restock. Backers of the new limited tier, the Mad Props Bundle, will receive their orders in July 2018. 

Speaking of Trick or Treat Studios, we received the Kandarian Daggers and Necronomicon Ex-Mortis props today! Photos and unboxing video below.

We Hit That Groovy Goal!

Hey everyone! 

This is our, ‘WE ARE FUNDED IN UNDER A WEEK’ update! Thank you all so much for backing, sharing the word, and supporting the creators of these amazing comic books. Dozens of people have spent countless hours bringing these comic books to life and to see them collected is beyond exciting. 

Now that we’ve officially hit week one of our campaign we want to welcome all the new backers! It's thrilling to see how close we are to having 200 unique backers. 

Just in case you’re new or you missed it, we wanted to remind you all about our Stretch Goals! 

The first is at $30k for the Evil Dead 2 Book Mark, then at $40k Soft Touch Matte Lamination will be added to all hardcover books. Most importantly on the Stretch Goal front, if we can get this Facebook Post to 200 shares, then every single backer will get a digital copy of part 1 and 2 of Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Hitler from our digital partners Comixology. 

Today at 2:30 p.m. PST one of our Evil Dead 2 authors, Georgia Ball, will be live streaming on our Kickstarter page! She will be answering a variety of questions about Evil Dead 2 and explain what it's like extending that groovy universe. We highly recommend checking that out. 

This campaign has some pretty exciting Optional Buys available as well, including the Evil Dead 2: Activity and Coloring Book and the Space Goat Exclusive Combat Ash. If you’re unsure of how to get your hands on those Optional Buys you can check out the update about that here!

So Close We Can Taste It

Hey Groovy Gang, 

After this amazing interview with Mental Floss and all the support from our backers the campaign is at 98%. We are on track to be funded in a week! We can’t thank you all enough for your support and excitement for these books. 

Let your friends, families and fellow Evil Dead 2 fans know about our campaign so we can start moving towards those radical stretch goals. We have a lot planned for you all and are more than excited to start unveiling some of that. 

There are a couple of really cool campaigns running right now that we wanted to talk about briefly. The first Stoker and Wells: The Graphic Novel is about a 20-something H.G. Wells and a 40-something Bram Stoker meeting in 1894 London and have a very unexpected 48-hour adventure. This leads to the creative inspiration for both writer's first great success - THE TIME MACHINE for Wells and DRACULA for Stoker. The interior artist is a creator we’ve worked with for a long time, Chris Summers. Summers is the colorist for the main series of Evil Dead 2 comic books, which is pretty much the whole of the Omnibus. 

The second campaign we think is totally groovy is the Doctor Cthulittle Illustrated Lovecraftian Adventure. This fully illustrated book is about the mad Doctor Cthulittle and his stalwart companions as they race to save the universe from the unending hunger of an eldritch horror, as it stirs from its aeons-long slumber.

Stretching for Those Goals

Good morning, afternoon and night Soul Suckers, 

We really appreciate everyone's support in getting us this far. We are now 85% funded in only 4 days! Evil Dead 2 fans are some of the best in the world. At this current average pledge level we only need 24 more backers to reach our goal! Space Goat Production's company president, Shon Bury, was interviewed by Mental Floss today about this Kickstarter. Keep an eye out for that going live on their site. 

We’re really excited to break into our stretch goals, so we added a few social stretch goals for you to get in on. If this Facebook post gets shared 200 times, all of our backers will receive a free digital copy of both parts of Revenge of Hitler from our digital partner Comixology.   

 

We wanted to give you a look at some of the components to this Kickstarter as well. Both the Combat Ash figure and the Evil Dead 2: Coloring and Activity Book are available as Optional Buys.
